Again, push Ctrl/Cmd and click the vector egg layer to select its contour.

Create a New Layer .

Add a Mask Layer .

Now, disconnect the link between the layer and the mask by clicking the icon as shown:

It is on this layer that you can add any design on your Easter Egg. The two finished examples below play with the gradient settings and color tones. Make sure that you reduce the opacity of whatever you design so that it looks painted onto the Egg.
