Creating a brass pipes style left navigation panel

Start by creating a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool.
Double click the layer and apply layer style as shown.

Create a thin rectangle using rectangular shape tool.
Duplicate this rectangle. Apply same layer style.
Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool covering all the three horizontal shapes.
Move this rectangle below the three layers.
Select all the three layers. From layer window select new group from layers.
From layer window select merge group.

Delete the excess glow form the sides by selecting the area using a rectangular marquee tool and pressing delete.
Create duplicate of the joint layer and place several copies as shown in the image below.

 

Create a circular shape using elliptical shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Duplicate the circle and place below.
Create another joint to connect the button to the pipe.
Apply the same layer style. Change the angle of the gradient overlay to achieve the result shown below.
Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.
Duplicate the button. Remove the layer style.
Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown.

Duplicate the button. Remove the layer style. Fill with white color. Rasterize the layer. Mask the bottom half.

Squeeze it vertically and change layer mode to screen.
Group all button layers. Duplicate the group to create more buttons. Place as shown in the image below.
Type button links using a nice font.
