Designing a poster to encourage blood donation

Start by creating a new file. Fill the background with a solid color.

Double click the layer to unflatten it. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Create a raindrop shape using custom shape tool. Since we're creating a blood drop we'll use red color.
Using add anchor point tool click on both sides just below the tip to add two nodes.
Using direct selection tool select these nodes and move them inwards.
Similarly select two nodes at the extreme right and left edges and drag their handles upwards to create a nice blood drop shape as shown below.

Enable "add to shape area" at the top bar. Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool.

Similarly create more ellipse shapes to create two arms.
With "subtract from shape area" enabled at the top bar, create two circles for hands.
Using ellipse tool create small ellipses for fingers and place as shown.
Create an elliptical selection using elliptical marquee tool.
Create a New layer and fill this selection using black to white gradient in linear mode.

Change layer mode to screen.
Reduce opacity to 50%.
Repeat above mentioned steps to create a glare on top of drop too. We'll let the opacity of top glare to its 100% value.
Create an ellipse for the eye using elliptical shape tool.

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

Create two more ellipses to complete the eye.
Select all eye layers. Duplicate the layer. Press Ctrl+T. Right click and select Flip Horizontal and place on the other side.
Using custom shape tool create a crescent moon shape.
Rotate the shape, scale it down vertically and apply same layer style we used for the eye layer.
Select and merge all layers. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.
Type the text for the poster on top and below of blood drop. Apply white stroke to the text.
