Creating a navigational header for website

In this tutorial we'll create a techno theme navigational header for an imaginary website that provide internet services.

Startr by opening a new file. Use width as 780 pixels. This is best width for any user on 800X600 screen resolution and more. Height can be anything like 200 to 300 pixels. Fill it with dark grey color.

Using path tool create a path for the header..

Fill it with dark red color.

Double click this layer to open layer style window and apply inner shadow. Apply settings as shown.
Open an image ( it can be any image as long as it contains some dark n light areas ).

Drag the image to the main file.

 

From filter menu select blur>>motion blur.
Apply motion blur settings as shown.
Ctrl+click the shape layer to get the selection and then press Ctrl+Shift+I to inverse the seletcion.
Press delete to remove the outer area.
From layer pallete change the color mode to linear light.
Using rectangular shpe tool create a horizontal bar for the buttons.
Double click to open layer style window. And apply inner shadow, bevel & emboss. Use settings as shown.
Duplicate the bar layer and move at the top of the header.
Create a shape for the button using pen tool.
Double click to open layer style window. Apply drop shadow, inner shadow, bevel & emboss. Apply settings as shown.
Create a duplicate of button layer, scale down it little bit and then reduce the opacity to 60%.
Type the link name on the button. Add some shadow if it goes well with your button color.
Similarly create rest of the links.
Open an image of a dish antenna. knock out the background and place it in the header.
Type the compnay name.
Type login and password and create rectangles in front of text to be use as input fields for login and password.
Our header is complete with cool shiny navigation buttons.
