Creating Windows XP style icon for rocket |
| Start by creating a drop shape using custom shape tool. |
| Select the path using direct selection tool. Select convert point tool. Click and drag the bazier handles to covert a corner point in to a rounded corner. |

| Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown. |
| Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 1 pixels. Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode. |
| Change the layer mode to screen. |
| Duplicate the drop layer. Press Ctrl+T. Flip vertical and scale it up vertically. |

| Double click the layer to open layer style window. Replace the layer style settings with the settings shown. |

| Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. |

| Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. |
| Ctrl+Click the layer thumbnail to get the selection. From select menu apply modify>>contract. Contract the selection by 2 pixels. Create a new layer and apply a black to white gradient in linear mode. Change the layer mode to screen. Scale it vertically. |
| Move this layer right below the scaled drop layer. |
| Create leg of the rocket using pen tool. |
| Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown. |
| Similarly create it for the other side. Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Enable subtract form shape area form the top bar. Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Apply the same layer style we used for leg layer. |
| Create an ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Apply the same layer style we used for the scaled drop layer. |
| Create a rectangle using rectangular shape tool. Enable intersect shape areas form the top bar. Create an ellipse as shown using elliptical shape tool. |
| Similarly create a cylindrical platform. |
| Select and merge all the layer. Scale down to icon size. Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply layer style with the settings shown. |
