Defining custom shortcuts in Photoshop

Apart from default keyboard shortcuts photoshop let's you create your own keyboard shortcuts. Let's understand this by creating a custom keyboard shortcut for applying a plastic wrap filter.

From edit menu select keyboard shortcuts.

it will open a keyboard shortcut dialog box.

Since filters are a part of application menus keep this enabled in "Shortcuts for" fly out.

Click on filter menu option. This will list out all available filters. Select plastic wrap from the filter list. Click on add shortcut button on the right side. We typed Ctrl+Alt+Shift+W as our shortcut key command.

If the key combination is one of the predefined combinations, photoshop will ask you if you want to replace the combination. Press OK if you want to otherwise try a different key combination.

It's time to try our keyboard shortcut. Open any image.
Press CTrl+Shift+Alt+W from your keyboard.
Plastic wrap filter window will open automatically. Adjust the settings and press OK.

Now if you want to get rid of your custom shortcut just open the same window and select the shortcut and press delete shortcut button from right hand side.
